Indiana State beats S. Illinois 64-62 in double OT
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP)—Marico Stinson scored 20 points and hit the game-winning 3-pointer with less than two seconds left to give Indiana State a 64-62 double overtime win over Southern Illinois on Saturday.
Harry Marshall added 16 points and made 14 of 19 free throws for Indiana State (9-6, 4-1).
Bryan Mullins led Southern Illinois with 18 points. Matt Shaw scored 16 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for the Salukis (7-9, 2-3). Mullins sank a 3-pointer three seconds before Stinson hit a 25-footer to win the game.
Southern Illinois led 30-22 at halftime, but the Sycamores rallied to tie the score at 47 at the end of regulation. Both teams then scored only five points apiece in the first overtime.
Indiana State improved to 8-0 at home. The Sycamores lost their first conference game Wednesday, when Drake beat them 75-50.
Southern Illinois has won 12 of the last 14 meetings between the schools. The Salukis outrebounded Indiana State 45-30.
