Holston scores 28 to lead Chicago St. 85-76 over Utah Valley St.
CHICAGO (AP)—David Holston scored 28 points and had nine assists to lead Chicago State to a 85-76 victory over Utah Valley State on Saturday afternoon.
Mike Wilson chipped in 20 points, including five 3-pointers, and had three assists while John Cantrell added 16 points for the Cougars (6-13).
Chicago State led 45-36 at the half in a game where the score was tied eight times and the lead changed five times.
Ryan Toolson scored a game-high 33 points, including six 3-pointers, on 11-for-13 shooting for the Wolverines (6-12). He shot 6-for-6 from behind the 3-point line and 5-for-5 from the foul line.
Richard Troyer added 16 points and 11 rebounds and Kevin Woods added 12 points for Utah Valley State. Josh Olsen had four assists.
The Cougars held on to a double-digit lead throughout the second period and were up 77-67 with 3:23 left in the game. The Wolverines responded to cut the lead to 80-74 with 1:21 left on a Toolson 3-pointer but Chicago State pulled away with a set of free throws.
