Jackson St. beats rival Alcorn St. 85-65 after slow start
LORMAN, Miss. (AP)—Jeremy Caldwell had 22 points and 11 assists and Catraiva Givens scored 20 points as Jackson State beat Southwestern Athletic Conference rival Alcorn State on Saturday night.
The Tigers (5-11, 3-0 SWAC) broke open the game with a 7-0 run late in the first half to take a 24-19 lead, then put together a 16-6 run at the beginning of the second half to beat the Braves (2-14, 1-2).
Darrion Griffin had 13 points and six assists for the Tigers and Garrison Johnson scored 13.
Alex Owumi led Alcorn State with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
