Hines’ 23 points leads St. Francis, N.Y. over Sacred Heart
FAIRFIELD, Conn. (AP)—Robert Hines had 23 points and 10 rebounds as St. Francis, N.Y., snapped its nine-game losing streak with a 73-63 win over Sacred Heart on Thursday.
Bassith Yessoufou added a career-high 16 points and Ricky Cadell 11 for St. Francis (4-12, 1-4 Northeast Conference).
Ryan Litke came off the bench to score a career-best 19 points for Sacred Heart (6-10, 3-2). Brice Brooks had 14 and Drew Shubik 10 for the Pioneers.
After a 3-pointer by Litke tied the score at 61-61 with 3:57 left, the Terriers used six points by Yessoufou to close the game with a 12-2 spurt and secure their first road win of the season.
The Terriers hurt Sacred Heart on the backboards, outrebounding the Pioneers 36-31 and finishing with 19 second-chance points to just two for Sacred Heart.
St. Francis led by as much as 12 in the first half, moving in front 34-22 on a 3-point play by Hines with 3 minutes left. The Terriers, who never trailed in the first half, led 36-30 at intermission.
