Murray State crushes Austin Peay in OVC contest
MURRAY, Ky. (AP)—Bruce Carter hit four 3-pointers and scored 26 points to lead Murray State to an 82-70 win over Austin Peay on Thursday night.
Tyler Holloway added 16 points for the Racers (8-7, 5-3 Ohio Valley Conference), Kevin Thomas had 14 points and 10 assists and Danero Thomas scored 12 points.
Ernest Fields was 11-of-12 from the free-throw line and finished with 15 points to lead five players in double figures for Austin Peay (10-7, 6-1). Derek Wright scored 14, Drake Reed 12, Todd Babington 11 and Fernandez Lockett 10.
In a game with 10 lead changes, the Racers went on a 10-2 run to take over for good at 68-62 with 3:16 left.
Murray State was perfect from the free-throw line, finishing 14-of-14, but the Racers committed 24 personal fouls, and Austin Peay was able to convert 28 of 36 free throws to keep it close.
