Vandals take Bulldogs 85-78
MOSCOW, Idaho (AP)—Jordan Brooks had 21 points and 10 rebounds to help the Idaho Vandals break a 13-game Western Athletic Conference losing streak in a 85-78 victory over Louisiana Tech on Thursday night.
Mike Hall scored 21 points and Clyde Johnson 19 points for the Vandals (4-11, 1-2).
The Bulldogs (3-11, 0-2) got 21 points from Kyle Gibson, while Dwayne Lathan and Keith Smith finished with 17 and 13, respectively.
Idaho began to pull away at the end of the first half. With the score tied at 22 and 8:20 left in the first half, the Vandals went on a 10-0 run that was capped by a 3-pointer by Hall.
The Vandals sank 4-of-9 3-pointers in the first half.
In the second half, the Bulldogs made things interesting when Drew Washington picked off an Idaho pass and took it the other way for a layup to bring them to within 73-71 with 4:35 on the clock.
Brandon Brown made a pair of free throws and a putback basket off his own miss to push the Idaho lead back to six points at 77-71 with 3:06 left.
The Bulldogs didn’t hit a field goal again until there were 10.5 seconds left in the game.
