Lowe scores 30 to lead Boston U. 82-72 over New Hampshire
BOSTON (AP)—Corey Lowe scored 30 points, including his team’s first 12 on four 3-pointers in the first 4:31, as Boston University broke a four-game losing streak with an 82-72 win over New Hampshire on Wednesday night.
Playing their first home game since Dec. 4, the Terriers (4-10, 1-1 America East) led virtually all the way for their 15th straight home win over the Wildcats.
UNH (4-9, 1-1) scored the game’s first basket before Lowe hit three straight 3-pointers to give his team the lead for good. He nailed another trey to make it 12-6 and BU led by 19 points in the first half and as many as 21 in the second before holding off a mild UNH run.
Carlos Strong scored 12 of his 14 points in the first half for BU and Max Gotzler had a career-high 11 points and matched his career-high with five rebounds.
Freshman Alvin Abreu, the current America East Rookie of the Week, led the shorthanded Wildcats with 20 points while Tyrece Gibbs had 19 and Tyrone Conley 14.
The Wildcats, playing their first road game since Dec. 6, dressed only eight players after losing one to injury and one to academics.
BU, which now holds a 52-6 advantage over UNH in conference play, was playing without leading rebounder and third-leading scorer Scott Brittain, who pulled a gluteus muscle in practice Tuesday.
