Yale rallies to beat Longwood 78-73
FARMVILLE, Va. (AP)—Travis Pinick scored five straight points to give Yale the lead for good as the Bulldogs rallied to beat Longwood 78-73 Tuesday night.
Yale (5-8) trailed 70-65 until Alex Zampier’s jumper with 2:53 left. Pinick followed with a tying 3-pointer, then hit a layup to give Yale a 67-65 advantage.
After two free throws by Zampier, who had six points in the winning run, Kevin Swecker hit a 3-pointer to pull the Lancers (4-15) within 74-73.
But Zampier added two more free throws with 13 seconds left and Ross Morin closed the scoring with a pair of clinching free throws with 4 seconds to play.
The Bulldogs were led by Eric Flato with 19 points and Morin with 17. Zampier added 14 and Pinick had nine.
Kirk Williams paced the Lancers with 19 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Lamar Barrett added 15 points and Brandon Giles had 11,
