Lyons, Carroll lead Missouri past UMKC 96-76
COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP)—DeMarre Carroll and Leo Lyons shrugged off a lackluster first half Tuesday night to help Missouri turn a game that was tied at halftime into a 96-76 blowout over Missouri-Kansas City.
After combining for only nine points in the first half, which ended tied at 35-35, the two post players took over. Lyons finished with 22 points, Carroll had 16 and Stephon Hannah added 13 points and 11 assists for the Tigers.
Early in the game it looked like Missouri (10-5) would cruise, taking a 29-16 lead with 8:27 left in the first half. But the Tigers went cold and didn’t hit another field goal in the half, while UMKC (5-12) went on a 16-2 run to take a 32-31 lead.
Free throws put Missouri back up 35-32 before Dane Brumagin hit a 3-pointer with 2 seconds left to send the game to halftime tied.
Brent Stephens led the Kangaroos with 20 points, Brumagin had 17 and Reggie Hamilton added 13. UMKC?s 14 3-pointers were twice as many as anyone else has scored against the Tigers this season.
