BOSTON (AP)—Pat Magnarelli had 21 points and 11 rebounds to lead Harvard to a 77-57 win over Colgate on Tuesday.
Jeremy Lin added 17 points, eight rebounds and five assists for the Crimson, while Andrew Pusar tallied 10 points and seven rebounds.
Kendall Chones led Colgate (8-6) with 17 points, nine rebounds, two blocks and three steals. Kyle Roemer added 19 points for the Raiders.
After trailing for much of the first half, the Crimson took a 26-25 lead on a 3-pointer by Drew Housman with three minutes to play in the first period. Colgate trailed 35-27 at the half and never trimmed the Crimson’s lead to less than eight.
Harvard (6-11) took advantage of poor Colgate shooting to win its second consecutive game after losing seven straight. The Raiders, who made 11 of 16 shots to start the game, went 1-of-14 over the final 9:32 of the first half. Colgate shot 37.7 percent from the floor and 21.1 percent (4-of-19) from beyond the arc for the game.
The Crimson also enjoyed a distinct advantage at the line, making 19 of 22 free throws (86 percent). Colgate, by contrast, went 7-of-13 from the line. Lin, a 58 percent free throw shooter on the season, was 6-of-8 from the line.
Colgate starting point guard Daniel Waddy had 11 points, three assists and three steals but was limited to just 24 minutes because of foul trouble.
