Carter has 22 to lead Murray State in 79-51 rout of SE Missouri
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP)—Bruce Carter scored 22 points Monday to help Murray State defeat Southeast Missouri 79-51.
Tony Easley added 11 points and eight rebounds for the Racers (7-7, 4-3 Ohio Valley), who gave Southeast Missouri its first conference loss.
Marcus Rhodes led the Redhawks (11-6, 6-1 OVC) with 15 points, and Brandon Foust had 10 points and 12 rebounds.
Murray State scored the first 11 points of the game and opened up a 17-2 lead eight minutes into the first half. Southeast Missouri, which missed its first 13 field goals, used a 10-2 run late in the first half to pull within 30-25. But Murray State responded, widening its lead to 37-27 at halftime.
The Racers outscored Southeast Missouri 40-20 in the paint and had 12 steals.
