Three players lead UMBC to an 86-73 victory over New Hampshire

DURHAM, N.H. (AP) - Cavell Johnson scored 22 points and Darryl Proctor and Brian Hodges each had 21 to lead Maryland-Baltimore County to an 86-73 victory over New Hampshire on Sunday.

Trailing 62-61 with 8:30 left, UMBC (10-5, 2-0 America East) outscored New Hampshire 25-11 the rest of the way. The Retrievers were ahead 73-67 with 3:28 to play, but New Hampshire scored only one more basket.

Tyrece Gibbs scored 22 for New Hampshire (4-9, 1-1), hitting six 3-pointers. Alvin Abreu added 20.

UMBC shot 55 percent from the field to New Hampshire’s 39 percent.
