Four players in double figures as Robert Morris beats Quinnipiac 86-79
HAMDEN, Conn. (AP)—A.J. Jackson scored 21 points and was among four players in double figures as Robert Morris defeated Quinnipiac 86-79 in the Northeast Conference on Saturday.
The Colonials hit five of their first seven three-pointers to take a 32-21 lead in the first half. Quinnipiac responded with a 10-0 run to close the gap to 32-31.
Robert Morris then scored five straight points before DeMario Anderson tied the contest with six straight of his own, but the Colonials carried a 42-39 lead into intermission despite the Bobcats shooting 63 percent in the half.
Quinnipiac battled from behind the entire second half, but never got closer than four points after a pair of three-pointers from Gary Wallace and Jimmy Langhurst gave the Colonials a 58-47 lead.
Anderson led all scorers with 28 points on 12-of-22 shooting. Justin Rutty and James Feldeine both had 12, and Karl Anderson added 10.
Short-handed Quinnipiac was playing without starting point guard Casey Cosgrove and reserve center Ed Zajac due to injuries.
Robert Morris shot 54 percent from the game, including 11-of-18 from three-point range.
