Coston scores 22 as Portland State tops Northern Arizona 80-66
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP)—Kyle Coston scored a career-high 22 points to lead Portland State to an 80-66 victory over Northern Arizona on Saturday night.
Andre Murray added 17 points for the Vikings (9-7, 2-1 Big Sky Conference) and Jeremiah Dominguez chipped in 11 points and seven assists. Zarko Comagic led Northern Arizona (10-6, 2-1) with 19 points and Kyle Landry had 12 points for the Lumberjacks.
Portland State’s offense came out swinging, hitting seven of its first 10 shots to open a 17-4 lead in the first six minutes.
The Vikings, who shot 53 percent from the field, kept the pressure on all night and led by as many as 27 points in the second half on their way to their second consecutive conference win.
The Vikings shot 55 percent (11-20) from 3-point range and outrebounded the Lumberjacks 33-23.
Northern Arizona shot 30 percent in the first half and trailed 35-21 at the break. The Lumberjacks hit 52 percent in the second half, but most of those shots fell once the outcome was no longer in doubt. ^
