Foust leads Southeast Missouri to 82-71 win over Eastern Illinois
CHARLESTON, Ill. (AP)—Brandon Foust had 25 points and 10 rebounds to lead Southeast Missouri to an 82-71 win over Eastern Illinois on Saturday night.
Jaycen Herring added 12 points and Michael Rembert and Roderick Pearson each chipped in 10 points for Southeast Missouri (11-5, 6-0 Ohio Valley).
The Redhawks jumped out to an 8-0 lead on Eastern Illinois (2-12, 1-5) which played without leading scorer Romain Martin, who warmed up but did not play. Southeast Missouri led 37-23 at the half.
Eastern pulled within five points with 3:51 remaining but the Redhawks responded with a 9-1 run, including a Pearson fast-break dunk, that put the game out of reach.
Julio Anthony had a career-high 22 points for Eastern Illinois. Jon’Tee Willhite came off the bench to add 16 points and Bobby Catchings had 13 points and nine rebounds for the Panthers.
