Four Mustangs in double figures as Cal Poly beats Long Beach State 64-52
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. (AP)—Lorenzo Keeler scored 14 points on 6-for-10 shooting as Cal Poly beat Long Beach State 64-52 on Saturday night.
Dawin Whiten and Chaz Thomas had 11 points apiece and Titus Shelton scored 10 as the Mustangs (6-8, 1-1 Big West Conference) snapped a three-game losing streak.
Long Beach State (3-10, 0-2) lost its fourth straight.
Donovan Morris led the 49ers with 15 points and eight assists, and Greg Plater came off the bench to score 12.
Cal Poly took the lead for good with 8:03 to go in the first half on a jumper from Matt Hanson that made it 15-14.
Long Beach State was within three early in the second half and pulled within five 40-35 with 12:21 to go after a layup from Brice Gallow.
But the Mustangs then went on an 11-3 run to pull away.
