Reed pushes Austin Peay to 71-55 win over Jacksonville St.
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP)—Drake Reed scored 17 points and added 10 rebounds to lead Austin Peay to a 71-55 win over Jacksonville State on Saturday night.
Reed’s double-double extended Austin Peay’s winning streak to five games and the Ohio Valley Conference champions improved to 9-6 overall and 5-0 in conference play.
Nick Murphy scored 20 points for Jacksonville State (2-11, 0-5) and started a rally at the top of the second half with four lay-ups and a free throw tie it at 39-39 with 15:45 left.
But Jacksonville State went on to shoot only 9-of-24 from the field in the second and was kept scoreless in the last 4:08 as Austin Peay sealed the win with 11 unanswered points.
Fernandez Lockett and Derek Wright both added 13 for the Govs, who forced 17 turnovers while only committing four. ^
