Second-half run gives Arkansas St. 77-62 win over Ark-Little Rock
JONESBORO, Ark. (AP)—Ryan Wedel scored 20 points to lead Arkansas State to a 77-62 win Saturday over in-state rival Arkansas-Little Rock.
The Indians (7-7, 2-2 Sun Belt Conference) opened the second half on a 23-2 run to top the Trojans (10-4, 2-1). Arkansas State trailed 30-29 at the half, but opened up a 20-point lead in the first 7:16 of the second half. The Indians shot 66 percent in the second half and 57 percent for the game.
Arkansas-Little Rock, led by Lekheythan Malone’s 17 points and nine rebounds, shot 34 percent from the floor. The Trojans had just three assists, but managed 21 second-chance points, compared with the Indians’ 7.
Wedel was one of four Arkansas State players in double-digits; Kewain Gant and Adrian Banks each had 16, while Yima Chia-Kur added 12.
De’Andre Eggins had 12 points for Arkansas-Little Rock, Brandon Patterson had 11 and Mike Smith chipped in eight points and 11 rebounds.
