Laser leads Eastern Illinois to 83-80 OT win over Murray State
CHARLESTON, Ill. (AP)—Freshman Tyler Laser had a career-high 27 points to lead Eastern Illinois to an 83-80 overtime win over Murray State on Thursday night.
Laser scored six points in overtime, including two free-throws with four seconds left that iced the game for Eastern Illinois (2-11).
Julio Anthony added 15 points and Bobby Catchings and Romain Martin each added 10 points for the Panthers, who snapped an eleven-game losing streak.
Laser hit two free-throws to give Eastern Illinois a 71-68 lead with five seconds left in regulation. But Murray State’s Tyler Holloway sank a 3-pointer as time expired to send the game into overtime.
Danero Thomas led Murray State (5-7) with 18 points and Holloway and Tony Easley added 15 points apiece.
Eastern Illinois led 31-25 at the half and never trailed in a game that had just two ties.
