W. Michigan dominates N.C. Central 79-43

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP)—David Kool scored 17 points, including a career-high five 3-pointers, to lead Western Michigan to a 79-43 win over North Carolina Central on Wednesday night.

Derek Drews and Joe Reitz each scored 13 for the Broncos (6-7) in their first-ever meeting with the Eagles (1-18).

Bryan Ayala led N.C. Central with 15 points and four assists. Charles Futrell added 12 points.

The loss extended N.C. Central’s winless streak on the road this season to 16 games. The Eagles, a first-year Division I program, have lost 13 straight and their nation-worst 18 losses have been by an average of 32.9 points.

The Eagles trailed by just two points midway through the first half, but Western Michigan opened up the game by hitting hit 11-of-27 3-pointers. The Broncos led 28-17 at halftime.

Reitz had a game-high nine rebounds to pace Western Michigan’s 42-25 domination on the boards.
