Brazelton scores 13 as Western Kentucky beats Middle Tennessee
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP)—Tyrone Brazelton scored 13 points Wednesday night as Western Kentucky coasted to a 62-51 victory over Middle Tennessee State.
The Hilltoppers (10-4, 2-0 Sun Belt) steadily built a lead in the first half, extending it to 20 points when Brazelton made a 3-point basket to make the score 33-13 with 3:31 to play in the half.
Middle Tennessee (4-9, 1-2) cut the lead to eight points at 39-31 on Desmond Yates? basket with 14:41 to play. But the Blue Raiders could get no closer, and Western Kentucky pushed the advantage back to 58-40 on Jeremy Evans’ dunk with four minutes to play.
No other Hilltoppers reached double figures, but 10 Western Kentucky players scored. Western Kentucky’s Courtney Lee, the second-leading scorer in the Sun Belt at 21.4 points per game, had an off night with just six points on 2-6 shooting in part because of early foul trouble.
Yates led all scorers with 16 points, while Demetrius Green had 11 and Nigel Johnson had 10 for the Blue Raiders.
