Roemer’s 17 points lead Colgate over Maine 70-62
HAMILTON, N.Y. (AP)—Kyle Roemer scored 17 points to lead Colgate to a 70-62 win over Maine Wednesday night at Cotterell Court.
Colgate (8-5) wins its second straight, while Maine (4-9) drops its fifth straight game.
Other Colgate players in double figures were Tim Pounds with 14 points and Kendall Chones with 11.
Maine was led by Mark Socoby with a game-high 22 points and Junior Bernal with 18.
Colgate jumped out to a 9-2 lead before increasing its advantage to 13 points, 25-12, with 6:21 remaining in the first half. Pounds had six points in a nine-point run for the Raiders.
Colgate led at halftime 33-26, but Maine scored the first five points of the second half to get to within two points. The Raiders went on an 8-2 run to open an eight-point advantage with 14:35 remaining.
The closest the Black Bears would come the rest of the way was four points, 41-37, with 13:16 left. They went without a field goal for over 11 minutes in the second half.
