Huffman’s last-second shot lifts Brown over Army 79-78
WEST POINT, N.Y. (AP)—Damon Huffman scored 23 points, including the game-winning 10-foot jump shot with 1.7 seconds remaining, as Brown erased a four-point deficit in the final 21 seconds and defeated Army 79-78 Wednesday night.
Brown (7-5) trailed 78-74 following two free throws by Army’s Kenny Brewer. Huffman took over the game, first scoring on a 3-point play with 15.2 seconds remaining to bring the Bears to within one point, 78-77.
Brown called time-out with 8.2 seconds remaining. Huffman took the in-bounds pass, drove to his right and pulled up for the game-winning shot.
Jarell Brown scored 32 points for Army (6-6), including 9-of-14 shooting from behind the 3-point arc. His 21 first-half points put Army up 38-37 at the half.
Chris Skrelja had 15 points and eight assists, Mark McAndrew scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, and Mark MacDonald added 12 points for the Bears.
Chris Walker added 14 points for Army.
