Sutton denied first win with San Francisco as Utah Valley State wins 73-61

OREM, Utah (AP)—Ryan Toolson scored 31 points and Utah Valley State beat San Francisco 73-61 Monday night to deny interim coach Eddie Sutton his first win with the Dons.

The loss gives Sutton two straight defeats since coming out of retirement to take over San Francisco (4-10) last Wednesday.

Sutton’s next chance to get win No. 799 will be in his home debut for the Dons on as they face Holy Cross.

Toolson scored Utah Valley State’s first 11 points.

The Wolverines (6-9) used a 9-3 run at the end of the first half and a 15-3 spurt early in the second to secure the win.

Dior Lowhorn led San Francisco with 19 points.
