Cornell squeezes past Quinnipiac 86-84 in overtime
HAMDEN, Conn. (AP)—Ryan Wittman scored 22 points and Louis Dale added 15 to lead Cornell over Quinnipiac 86-84 in overtime Monday.
Cornell (6-4) scored the last nine points of regulation to tie the game at 74.
Quinnipiac (5-6) took an 80-77 lead early in overtime on a three-pointer by DeMario Anderson, but Dale hit a pair of free throws and a jumper in the lane to give the Big Red the lead 81-80.
Both teams traded baskets, and the Bobcats held the lead at 84-83 following a pair of free throws by Louis Brookins. But Dale again connected from the free throw line, giving Cornell the lead for good.
Wittman closed out the scoring from the free throw line.
Anderson missed a jumper from 16 feet in an attempt to tie the game in the final seconds.
Anderson led Quinnipiac with 20 points despite being held scoreless in the first half. James Feldeine added 19 points, hitting 5 of 6 from three-point range.
