Blair adds 22 as Stetson beats Charleston Southern 76-70
DELAND, Fla. (AP)—Junior guard Garfield Blair scored a game-high 22 points to lead Stetson to a 76-70 win over Charleston Southern on Monday.
Blair scored 14 points in the second half to lead Stetson’s comeback. The Hatters never led in the first half and trailed by 10 points, 50-40, with 10:30 to play.
Stetson also got 15 points from junior forward Eric Diaz, who tied the game at 52 with a 3-pointer with 6:02 left. Diaz gave Stetson its first lead with another 3-pointer at the 5:16 mark. He added the final lead-changing basket, which put Stetson ahead 60-59 with 3:33 remaining, on his third and final 3-pointer.
The Hatters (4-9) also got 11 points from sophomore guard A.J. Smith and 10 points from junior guard Kris Thomas.
Charleston Southern (5-7) was paced by freshman guard Tovi Bailey, who had 17 points, and freshman forward Omar Carter, who added 16 points. Senior guard Chris Moore chipped in 11 points for the Buccaneers.
The Hatters made 26 of 36 free throws in the game and converted nine of 12 free throws in the final 1:01 to protect their lead.
