Coleman leads N. Iowa to 59-46 road win over Bradley
PEORIA, Ill. (AP)—Eric Coleman had 17 points and 14 rebounds to lead Northern Iowa to a 59-46 win over Bradley on Saturday.
Jared Josten added 16 points for the Panthers (9-3, 1-0), who led 25-9 at the half in the first Missouri Valley Conference contest for both teams.
Bradley (7-6, 0-1) played without leading scorer Daniel Ruffin, who is out indefinitely following surgery Friday to repair a sports hernia. The senior point guard averaged 14.2 points per game.
Sam Maniscalco led Bradley with 15 points.
The Braves’ offense was ice cold in the first half, when Bradley shot 16.7 percent on 4-for-24 shooting from field-goal range. Northern Iowa has held five of its last seven opponents to 50 or less points during regulation time and the Panthers have not allowed a team to score more than 68 points in a game this season.
Before Saturday, Bradley hadn’t lost a conference opener played at home since Dec. 8, 2001, a 67-61 loss to Northern Iowa.
