Wright scores 16 to lead San Jose State to 76-73 win over PSU
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP)—DaShawn Wright scored 16 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead San Jose State to a 76-73 overtime victory over Portland State on Friday night.
Justin Graham added 15 points for the Spartans (5-5) while Tim Pierce and Chris Oakes each scored 11 points.
Jeremiah Dominguez led Portland State (7-7) with 27 points. Scott Morrison scored 14 points and Deonte Huff added 13 points.
Trailing 42-27 at halftime, San Jose State outscored the Vikings 15-6 in the opening seven minutes of the half to get back in the ballgame.
A thunderous dunk by Pierce brought SJSU to within six at 48-42 with 13:05 to play. The Spartans tied the score at 58-58 when Graham hit a 3-pointer with 3:11 remaining.
Down the stretch, Huff hit two free throws with three seconds to play to give PSU the lead, but Graham was fouled with 1.6 seconds left and connected on both free throws to send the game to overtime, where SJSU outlasted the Vikings to seal the victory.
