Duquesne 86, Robert Morris 70
PITTSBURGH (AP)—Kojo Mensah scored 22 points, including 11-for-11 from the foul line, to lead Duquesne to a 86-70 victory over Robert Morris on Friday.
Aaron Jackson scored 16 points, Reggie Jackson had 14 and Shawn James added 13 for the Dukes (8-3), who won their second in a row after a three-game losing streak. Reggie Jackson, a 5-10 guard, also had a career-high nine assists to go with seven rebounds and just one turnover.
Jeremy Chappell and Tony Lee led Robert Morris (7-5) with 17 points apiece.
The Colonials, who were bidding for their fourth consecutive road victory, also received 11 points from Jimmy Langhurst and 10 from A.J. Jackson.
Duquesne, off to its best start since the 1979-80 team went 12-3, used a 17-5 run, capped by an alley-oop dunk by 6-1 guard Gary Tucker with 8:30 remaining, to take a 66-54 lead. The Dukes, who wore throwback jerseys to celebrate their last NCAA tournament team from 30 years ago, led 39-37 at halftime.
Duquesne pulled away in the second half by shooting 65 percent and holding Robert Morris to 33 percent after the Colonials shot 54 percent and hit 6 of 9 shots from 3-point range in the first half.
