Grasmick’s 26 points and eight 3s lead CS Bakersfield past UC Riverside 71-53

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP)—Zack Grasmick scored 26 points including eight 3-pointers as Cal State Bakersfield ran away in the second half and snapped an eight-game losing streak with a 71-53 victory Saturday over UC Riverside.

Grasmick finished 8-for-13 from behind the arc and the Roadrunners totaled a season-high 14 3s.

Cal State Bakersfield (2-10), in the third year of a five-year transition from Division II to Division I, won for the first time since a Nov. 17 victory against Fresno State.

The Highlanders (3-7) were within one 30-29 at the half, but Bakersfield outscored them 41-24 and did not commit a turnover in the second half.

Terrence Johns had 17 points and Alex Johnson and Trent Blakely added 12 each for the Roadrunners.

Larry Cunningham and Aaron Scott led UC Riverside with 12 points apiece.
