SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP)—Chris Oakes and Justin Graham each scored 13 points for San Jose State as the Spartans ended a four-game losing streak with a 68-64 victory over Presbyterian Saturday night.

Forward DeVonte Thomas and guard DaShawn Wright, making his first start of the season, each added 11 points for San Jose State (4-5). The Spartans, who had made just 32.9 percent of their field goal tries during the losing streak, converted 53.3 percent of their attempts.

Presbyterian (1-14) trailed 38-26 at halftime and worked its way back into the game with an effective 2-3 zone defense that limited San Jose State to seven second-half field goals. The Blue Hose eventually tied the game at 54-54 with 5:24 remaining on a basket by guard Pierre Miller.

San Jose State scored the next five points on a three-point play by Wright and two free throws by Oakes and never relinquished the lead the rest of the game. The Spartans helped themselves by making 9-of-14 from the free throw line the final five minutes of the game.

Presbyterian starting center Al’Lonzo Coleman was the game’s only other double-figure scorer with 13 points before fouling out with 1:18 remaining. The loss for the Blue Hose was their sixth in a row.
