CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP)—Leemire Goldwire scored 20 points as Charlotte overcame a sluggish start to beat Gardner-Webb 83-51 on Saturday.

Lamont Mack added 11 points, while Charlie Coley and Charles Dewhurst both had double-doubles with 12 points and 11 rebounds each as the 49ers (7-4) snapped a two-game losing streak.

Thomas Sanders scored 14 points and Nate Blank 11 for the Bulldogs (5-8), who could not keep pace with Charlotte on the way to their fourth straight defeat.

Gardner-Webb shot less than 30 percent from the field, made only 2 of 18 three-point attempts, were outrebounded 50-36 and had 11 shots blocked.

But the 49ers quickly found their stride, with Goldwire nailing a 3-pointer with 5:56 remaining to cap a 21-7 run and put Charlotte up 27-19.

The Bulldogs hit six straight free throws over the next minute to cut the 49ers lead to 27-25. But Goldwire hit consecutive 3-pointers to start a 14-4 run to close out the half. Charlotte led 43-29 at the break.

The 49ers steadily increased their lead in the second half, with a Kyle Church 3-pointer putting Charlotte ahead 83-49 with 52.2 seconds remaining, its biggest margin of the game.
