Illinois State defeats winless Ball State 65-49
MUNCIE, Ind. (AP)—Boo Richardson scored 16 points and Osiris Eldridge added 15 as Illinois State defeated winless Ball State 65-49 on Saturday.
Eldridge scored the first four points of the game as Illinois State (8-3) came out to an early lead. Ball State (0-11) tied the game 8-8 with 12 minutes left in the first half.
But a 3-pointer by Emmanuel Holloway brought the lead back to the Redbirds, who stayed in front for the rest of the game. The Cardinals never came within five points of the lead in the second half.
Illinois State shot a perfect 6 of 6 free throws and made 48 percent of attempted field goals and 35 percent of 3-pointers. Ball State made 5-11 free throws, and just 39 percent of field goals and 20 percent of its 3-point shots.
Dinma Odiakosa had 12 rebounds and 10 points for the Redbirds, while Levi Dyer made 3-of-9 3-point shots to add nine points.
