Jackson’s 16 lead Duquesne over St. Francis, Pa., 99-80
PITTSBURGH (AP)—Aaron Jackson scored 16 points and Shawn James had 11 points, five rebounds and seven blocks as Duquesne beat St. Francis (Pa.) 99-80 Friday night.
Kieron Achara added 14 points and six rebounds for Duquesne (7-3). Damian Saunders and Kojo Mensah scored 12 points apiece for the Dukes. Mensah also had a season-high 10 assists.
Devin Sweetney led St. Francis (3-8) with 18 points. Steve Profeta added 14, Chris Berry and Cale Nelson scored 11 each and Grant Suprenant had 10.
Duquesne led just 40-34 at halftime and struggled to shake loose from the Red Flash before opening a double-digit lead for good with 13:29 left on a 3-point shot by Jackson.
The win ended a three-game losing streak for Duquesne, including a 73-68 loss to No. 11 Pittsburgh on Dec. 5. The Dukes hadn’t played a game in 13 days.
James’ seven blocks gives him 50 for the season. He led the nation two seasons ago while at Northeastern.
