McCaleb, New Orleans downs La. Tech 81-72 in Gulf Coast Classic
BILOXI, Miss. (AP)—Bo McCaleb scored 24 points as New Orleans beat Louisiana Tech 81-72 Thursday.
McCaleb helped the Privateers (9-2) win two of three games in the Gulf Coast Classic, losing only to Southern Miss. New Orleans shot 58 percent in the win over the Bulldogs (2-9).
McCaleb’s layup with 4:30 left in the first half gave UNO its first double-digit lead at 37-26 and the Privateers went on to lead 46-35 at halftime.
James Parlow scored all 10 of his points for UNO in the first 7 minutes and his 3-pointer with 13:20 left in the first half broke an 11-11 tie and gave the Privateers a lead they would never lose.
Kyle Gibson led Louisiana Tech with a career-high 27 points. He helped the Bulldogs stay close in the second half and cut the deficit to 59-53 with 8 minutes to play. But McCaleb scored two straight baskets to extend the lead again.
The Privateers’ Shaun Reynolds added 12 and T.J. Worley and Kyndall Dykes each scored 11.
J.C. Clark scored 14 for Louisiana Tech and J.J. Marshall scored 12.
