Georgia Southern routs Asbury College 82-51
STATESBORO, Ga. (AP)—Georgia Southern followed up a close game against defending NCAA champion Florida with an 82-51 rout of NAIA Division II Asbury on Thursday night.
Willie Powers, whose potentially game-tying 3-pointer was blocked just before the final buzzer Saturday in a 52-49 loss to the Gators, and Anthony Marshall led Georgia Southern (8-2) in scoring against Asbury (9-4) with just 11 points.
Georgia Southern used a 25-4 run to stretch an early 10-7 lead into a 35-11 advantage. The Eagles forced six turnovers during that period.
Brett Johnson scored 18 and had six rebounds for Asbury, which trailed 43-19 at the half.
