Jackson’s 19 points leads UTEP over SE Louisiana 76-67
EL PASO (AP)—Stefon Jackson’s 19 points led four Texas-El Paso players scoring in double digits and the Miners beat Southeastern Louisiana 76-67 on Wednesday night.
UTEP (6-2) shot 49 percent from the field in the first half on its way to a 42-28 halftime lead.
The Miners took their largest lead—a 16-point margin—30 seconds into the second half and managed to hold off a rally by the Lions, who outscored the Miners in the second half.
Randy Culpepper came off the bench to add 14 points for the Miners, while Tavaris Watts and Victor Ramalho had 10 each. Marvin Kilgore led the Miners with 11 assists.
Five players for Southeastern Louisiana (7-4) scored in double digits. Span Warrell had 19 points and 11 rebounds, while Patrick Sullivan had 12 points and 10 rebounds. Dekyron Nicks added 13 points and Tavaris Nance had 11.
The Lions outrebounded the Miners 41-30.
