Mayo leads Illinois Chicago to 66-56 win over Toledo
CHICAGO (AP)—Junior guard Josh Mayo had a game-high 22 points, including 16 in the second half, to lead Illinois-Chicago to a 66-56 win over Toledo Wednesday night.
Robert Kreps added 12 points for Illinois-Chicago (7-4), which came back from a 32-25 halftime deficit on 56 percent shooting in the second half. The Flames have won eight home games in a row dating back to last season.
Mayo’s four 3-pointers all came after the break, including one early in the second half that sparked a 20-5 Illinois-Chicago run and put the game out of reach.
Tyrone Kent had 19 points and was 5-for-7 from 3-point range for Toledo (2-9). Jonathan Amos added 12 points and Ridley Johnson chipped in 10 points for the Rockets.
