Roberts, Cordeiro lead Dayton past American 63-56
DAYTON, Ohio (AP)—Brian Roberts scored 12 points and Thiago Cordeiro had 11 to lead Dayton past American 63-56 Wednesday night for their eighth straight win.
The Flyers (9-1) trailed for much of the first half but took a 28-26 lead early in the second and stayed in front from there.
An 11-2 spurt gave Dayton a comfortable 50-38 lead with 5:24 to play. Charles Little had eight of his nine points during the run.
Garrison Carr had seven 3-pointers and led all scorers with a career-high 26 points for American (6-5). No other Eagles reached double figures.
Center Kurt Huelsman had 11 rebounds for Dayton as the Flyers out-rebounded American 39-24. Dayton shot just 37.5 percent in the first half, but improved to 50 percent in the second period.
