Dials scores 21 to lead Akron past North Carolina A&T

AKRON, Ohio (AP)—Nick Dials scored 21 points to lead Akron to a 88-70 victory over North Carolina A&T on Wednesday night.

Quade Milum added 14 points and Nate Linhart contributed 10 for the Zips, who piled on North Carolina A&T 49-31 in the first half. The strong half enabled Akron (8-2) to cruise past North Carolina A&T despite an evenly matched second half with the teams each scoring 39 points.

Steven Rush scored 18, and Austin Ewing 14, for North Carolina A&T (5-6), which shot 52 percent from the field.

Akron shot nearly 46 percent from the field, but was able to gain ground with 53 percent (8-15) shooting from behind the 3-point line in the first half while North Carolina A&T could only manage 22 percent (2-9) from behind the arc in the opening half.

Akron’s bench outscored North Carolina A&T’s reserves 36-19.
