Courtney Lee leads attack as W. Ky. routs N.C. Central

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP)—Courtney Lee scored 16 points and Western Kentucky never trailed as the Hilltoppers beat North Carolina Central 84-53 Tuesday night.

Western (8-3) jumped out to a 14-0 lead and were ahead 38-18 over the Eagles (1-13) at halftime.

Orlando Mendez-Valdez scored 11 points for Western, and D.J. Magley and Tyrone Brazelton added 10 points apiece.

Charles Futrell scored 15 points to pace Central, which is transitioning from Division II to Division I. Ashton Sauls scored 14 for the Eagles, who shot 17-of-50 (34 percent) for the game to Western’s 27-of-55 (49 percent).

The Hilltoppers scored 37 points off 23 Central turnovers and had 38 points in the paint, compared with just 18 for the Eagles.
