Lee scores 13 as Robert Morris holds off Youngstown State, 74-71
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AP)—Tony Lee scored 13 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and had four steals as Robert Morris held off a late Youngstown State rally to win 74-71 Monday night.
Robert Morris (6-4) led throughout and had built an 18-point lead halfway through the second period. But the Penguins (3-6), led by Byron Davis, went on a 20-4 run to close to within two with 2:33 remaining.
Davis scored seven points during the run, and finished with a game-high 20 points. But in the game’s last half minute, he missed a jumper and a 3-pointer with Youngstown State trailing 73-70. After the teams traded free throws, he missed another 3-pointer with one second left that would have tied it.
All of the Colonials’ starting five, including Lee, reached double figures: Jeremy Chappell scored 13, Jimmy Langhurst and Bateko Francisco had 12 and A.J. Jackson added 10.
Youngstown State also had five players in double figures. Besides Davis, Vytas Sulskis had 13 points and Jack Liles had 12 points, while Vance Cooksey and backup Dwight Holmes both had 11 points.
