Gomez leads Tulane to third straight win
NEW ORLEANS (AP)—David Gomez scored 19 points to lead Tulane to a 80-68 win over Indiana State Monday night, its third straight win.
Tulane (6-3) seized control of the game late in the second half with balanced scoring and good distribution of the ball.
There were 10 lead changes and four ties. Tulane led 35-32 at the halftime.
Tulane went on a 9-2 run to open the second half to take a 44-34 lead. Indiana State (4-5) trimmed the lead to five points, 53-48, at the 10-minute mark after Marico Stinson hit a 3-pointer.
Tulane hit six straight free throws to maintain a nine-point advantage with 7:30 left. The Wave then extended its lead back to double figures on a jumper by Gomez.
Robinson Louisme had 12 points and Matt Wheaton added 11 points for Tulane.
Stinson scored 14 points to lead four Indiana State players in double figures. Harry Marshall had 12 points, Gabe Moore 11 and Isiah Martin 10.
