Hazzard leads Troy to 98-80 win over Jacksonville
TROY, Ala. (AP)—Brandon Hazzard came off the bench to score a career-high 27 points, including 22 in the first half, to lead the Trojans to a 98-80 win over Jacksonville Monday night.
Troy (6-4) missed its first six shots as the Dolphins (3-7) took an early 8-2 lead but the Trojans’ bench was in good form and ready to work.
After Jerome Odem had a 3-pointer at the 14:26 mark, the Trojans’ bench scored the next 48 points to close out the half. Hazzard led with 19 first half points in only 10 minutes of play.
Jacksonville (3-7) connected on 46 percent of its shots. The Dolphins had four players with double figures. Marcus Allen led the way 19 points with Ben Smith adding 14. Evan Jefferson and Ayron Hardy each had 13.
The Trojans? bench scored 70 of the 98 points in the contest. Junior Mario Telfair also scored a career-high 20 points to go along with six rebounds. Tom Jervis added 11 points and O’Darien Bassett chipped in with 10 more.
