Eastern Washington beats Portland Pilots 84-75
CHENEY, Wash. (AP)—Adris DeLeon scored nine of his 14 points in the final 4:16 and Eastern Washington hit its free throws down the stretch to beat University of Portland 84-75 on Monday night.
Milan Stanojevic scored 18 points for the Big Sky Conference Eagles (5-8).
Nik Raivio finished with 28 points for the West Coast Conference Pilots (3-8), who lost for the fifth time in six games.
With the score tied at 56 after a pair of free throws by Ravio with 8:05 remaining, Eastern Washington went on a 17-5 run, capped by a three-point play by DeLeon, to go up 73-61 with 2:18 left.
Portland pulled within 78-70 on Taishi Ito’s 3-pointer with 34 seconds left.
Gary Gibson sealed the decision at the line for the Eagles, making six foul shots in the final 31 seconds.
Kellen Williams had 16 points and 10 rebounds and Trey Gross 11 points for the Eagles, who shot 56 percent. Williams shot 7-of-9.
Raivio scored 18 first-half points, sinking 7 of 11 shots as the Pilots grabbed a 36-32 lead at halftime. Luke Sikma had nine points for Portland.
