Lisch scores 20 to lead Saint Louis past Southern Illinois, 56-51
ST. LOUIS (AP)—Kevin Lisch scored eight of his 20 points in the closing minutes and Saint Louis closed the game with a 13-0 run to beat Southern Illinois 56-51 Saturday night.
Tommie Liddell III scored 16 points for Saint Louis (7-5), which shot 11-of-16 from the floor in the second half to end a two-game losing streak.
Southern Illinois (4-4) seemed to have a comfortable lead at 51-43 after Matt Shaw hit a 3-pointer, but Lisch answered with his own 3-pointer, then went 5-of-6 on free throws down the stretch to help the Billikens win for the fifth time in six home games.
Shaw led Southern Illinois with 21 points on 7-of-11 shooting and Randal Falker added 12.
The game feature numerous big runs, including a 16-3 second-half spurt by Southern Illinois that gave the Salukis their largest lead at 48-39.
Saint Louis used an 8-0 run, capped by Danny Brown’s acrobatic shot, to end the first half with a 24-23 lead.
