NEW YORK (AP)—Kellen Allen scored 15 of his 24 points in the first half to help LIU beat Harvard 88-73 on Thursday night.
Eugene Kotorobai added 17 points and Kyle Johnson had 16 for the Blackbirds (7-3), who have won three straight. Jaytornah Wisseh had 13 and 11 assists.
Pat Magnarelli scored 22 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the Crimson (4-7), who lost their third straight. Jeremy Lin added 17 points.
After Magnarelli got Harvard to within 22-17 on a jumper at 10:17 of the first half, LIU used a 9-0 run, capped by Kotorobai’s 3-pointer, to go ahead 31-17 at 7:54.
Harvard closed to 47-41 early in the second half on Magnarelli’s three-point play, but LIU responded with a 13-3 run to put the game away.
