Nicholls State beats cold-shooting La.-Monroe
THIBODAUX, La. (AP)—Adonis Gray had 17 points and Ryan Bathie 16 as Nicholls State beat cold-shooting Louisiana-Monroe 78-65 on Tuesday.
The 13-point difference at the end of the game was the same as that at halftime, 47-34.
Afam Nweke grabbed a game-high nine rebounds for Louisiana-Monroe (4-5). The Warhawks were led by 17 points from Jordan Payne, 13 from Lance Brasher and 11 from Jonas Brown.
Justin Payne had 13 points for the Colonels (3-7), and Michael Czepil 10. Dominic Friend led the team in rebounding, with seven.
The Warhawks made only 20 of their 50 field goal attempts (40 percent), including 12 of 31 (38.7 percent) from 3-point range, while the Colonels made 26-49 (53.1 percent), including 8 of 17 (47.1) from 3-point range.
They also outrebounded the Warhawks, 32-25, and made 18 of 21 free throws, compared to 13 of 19 for Louisiana-Monroe.
