Ubiles scores 20 points to lead Siena to 81-76 victory over Iona
ALBANY, N.Y. (AP)—Edwin Ubiles scored 20 points to lead Siena to an 81-76 victory over Iona on Sunday.
Alex Franklin added 19 points and eight rebounds and Kenny Hasbrouck had 18 points for Siena (5-3, 2-0 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference).
Siena took the lead for good at 13-12 when Hasbrouck scored with 12:38 to go in the first half. The Saints led 42-29 at halftime.
Iona was called for 30 fouls and the Saints went 31-for-39 at the free throw line.
Siena committed just 16 fouls and the Gaels went 11-for-16 from the line.
Devon Clarke led Iona (2-7, 1-1) with 17 points. Milan Prodanovic had 16 points and reserve Gary Springer added 13 points and nine rebounds.
Kyle Camper and De’Shaune Griffin both had 10 points for Iona.
The Gaels, who shot 55 percent from the field in the second half, got as close as three points with 15 seconds remaining on a deep 3-pointer by Camper.
