Bassett’s 23 points leads Troy past ASU, 85-74
TROY, Ala. (AP)—O’Darien Bassett scored 23 points and Troy forced 22 turnovers in an 85-74 over Alabama State Saturday night.
The Trojans (4-4) trailed by a point at halftime but led by as many as 14 late in the second half for their third consecutive victory.
The game was tied at 45-all before Troy went on a 26-12 run against the Hornets (3-3). Bassett hit consecutive baskets to give the Trojans a 71-57 lead, their largest of the game, in the final minutes.
Troy got 36 points from reserves compared to 14 for Alabama State.
Tom Jervis and Mario Telfair each had 10 points for the Trojans.
Brandon Gordon led Alabama State with 22 points and 18 rebounds. Andrew Hayles made 7 of 10 3-pointers for 21 points.
